irreligious at best.

if the devil is in the details, then is God in the mysteries?

dumb things

So it would seem that now you can edit this through the iphone. No, I don't own one, but the iPod touch runs the same OS so I use the same apps. Yippee for mobile blogging!

Blogging

So I love blogging, but inspiration really strikes me at random intervals so I'm never consistent and I very much write the way I think, which admittedly causes my writing to be somewhat chaotic. I must confess that usually when I begin to blog it is out of some misplaced desire to commit my thoughts to paper but not really having had much thought put into what I write or having researched it so I'm considering taking things up a notch and revamping my process and writing a serious blog with updates on a regular basis.

I've been considering several things and I think that this is what I want to to. Once a week I'm going to write a devotional putting serious thought into issues surrounding my faith and practice of it. This is going to be something of an exercise in spiritual discipline that I've been seriously lacking in my life and will force me to begin to delve deeper in my faith on a consistent basis.

The second thing I want to do is talk about music. Next to faith, family, and friends, music is the most important thing in my life. I spend copious amounts of time researching new bands, finding new music to try out and listen to, and simply surrounding myself with different soundscapes throughout the day and, as is often the case, I find that the music I listen to somewhat reflects the thoughts, patterns, and emotions I go through on a regular basis. So with that understanding the music I'm going to talk about has no specific pattern of genre, style, sound, or production values.

The third section I'm working on developing is going to be a grab bag. It will reflect articles I've been reading, movies I've been watching, or just things that have given me pause throughout the week. So it really is a section that doesn't work on any conceptual level but promises to be a funky way to keep up with what's going on with my extra curricular activities.

All this in mind, the updates will be as follows: Sunday/Monday will be a devotional, Wednesday will be the grab bag keeping up with a classroom tradition called "Funday Wednesday", and Fridays will be music day. I'm hoping to start this Friday with a post about Thrice's new live record/dvd "Live from the House of Blues". And if anyone has any suggestions feel free to throw them my way, whether it be a spiritual question you're wrestling with, and odd article you think I would like or a band I should check out.

Grace and peace be with you all.
