irreligious at best.

if the devil is in the details, then is God in the mysteries?

so there's this thing about capitalism: business needs to have competition to keep prices down. there's many things about basic economics that seems to be beyond the current administration, so i'm not exactly surprised that they don't get this.

in order to help the ailing housing economy, the current administration has decided to give freddie and fannie 20 mil in housing contracts to the exclusion of other banks and another fifteen mil from the federal reserve to give low and middle level income households a "better shot" at home ownership. the problem with this is that that's not how it works. by doing this they keep housing prices where they are and potentially raise them as more money gets artificially pumped into the system and either way it continues to screw over the low and middle income families by keeping the prices high and potentially increasing them making the low wrung houses still out of reach. nice obama, nice.

The Rescue

just got back from the rescue in washington D.C. What an incredible experience. not as crazy as last year, but still crazy. i think that i'm going to head into the harrisburg one tonight. i'm not sure yet, but i really think that it's important to spend at least one night on the streets for this at this time. Just because i've been rescued that doesn't mean that many of my friends who are in the harrisburg site have been and it's important to stand strong together for a cause because it's easy to say i've done my time, but it's important to me to do this. so off to sleep on the streets of hburg!

Obama

The march to fascism continues. Recently, the Obama administration has made a motion to rescind a rule put in place by the Bush administration that protected the right of medical professionals to refuse procedures based on morality. This may not seem like a huge step to many as they would rarely find an example in which a doctor would be put in this position. The rule is in place in effect to give doctors the option to refuse to perform abortions, but I feel there are probably many other examples in which this could apply. The ins and outs of what procedures could be affected by the morality of a doctor isn't what concerns me though.

What concerns me is that this now means that a doctor could be forced against his moral judgment to perform a procedure. Why is this necessary? This is a free country and if your doctor refuses treatment, find a new one. Why is it necessary to legally have the option to limit a doctor's freedom of choice? As far as I'm concerned the only reason that this would be is very much along the lines of building a stronger base for large government in preparation for the creation of a socialist state. It is becoming more and more obvious that not only does Obama favor socialistic ideals, he is implementing them. Slowly our foundational rights are being chipped away, and no one cares or says anything. It starts with what appears on the surface to be reasonable ideas. Fascists never wake up one morning and take over their nation and remove all rights of citizens. It takes time, especially in a nation that holds it's fundamental and constitutional liberties so dear.

Some day we will be divided again, only this time it won't be race or social standing. It will be based on a difference of ideas. On one hand, a large, overpowering government that completely limits freedom and removes the say of the people, and on the other, those who will push to return to the original constitution. How long before we realize that socialism only seems like a good idea? It's the last step before fascism. Once power and control have been localized in the government for the purpose of redistribution and "fair" spreading of wealth and services, it is one small step to complete government control of resources. Some day I hope the nation I live in wakes up and steps up to the plate the way our founding fathers did.
